I wore my first one that I made today and I'm planning on making more just in case if Kerry and Edwards run again in 08? Am I still living in the past or just day dreaming about the future? I need some advice.

| Kerry's Urgent Message on the Arctic Refuge -- Need Responses Today |
[15 Mar 2005|03:08pm] |
Senator Kerry sent out an urgent call for support today. The Republicans are very, very seriously close to sneaking through legislation to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling. We all thought that this kind of horror would be months in the making, but suddenly things have changed and it's hanging by a thread. Kerry, along with Senator Cantwell, is leading the charge to stop this impending disaster. There are two things you can do:
1. Read Kerry's letter (complete text below the cut), click on the link and sign the "Citizen Roll Call" opposing drilling. They're supposed to add a thing to JohnKerry.com giving a rolling update on the number of signatories, but last I checked, that wasn't working yet.
2. If you live in one of these states: Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia -- please call your senator(s) immediately and ask them to oppose opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for drilling. Phone numbers for the key senators are at the bottom of this post. If you've never called a senator before, trust me, it's easy; you just tell the staffer that you're one of the senator's constituents (important -- they care more about calls from their own voters than out-of-state calls, naturally) and that you're calling to ask them to oppose drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge; if they seem to have time to talk, you can cite reasons given in Kerry's letter, but often they'll just thank you for calling and tell you that they'll make a note of it.

Every 20th of the month until when Kerry gets elected, wear your Kerry gear at places you are allowed to wear it at. I'd came up with this idea because I wore my Kerry shirt when Bush got sworn in and I'm going to wear a Kerry shirt tomorrow. So I hope everyone trys this.

| JK on Imus on Monday |
[05 Feb 2005|12:12am] |
|
I just heard that John Kerry will be interviewed on Imus in the Morning on Monday, February 7th. He's supposed to be on at about 7:29, or so goes the rumor. You can find the show on the radio or watch the show on MSNBC, though Imus generally has his guests phone in, rather than come to the studio, so there's nothing to see but Imus.

Okay. I was cropping and resizing a picture of John Kerry, and I accidentally saved it over the origninal, and now I lost the original picture. It was my absolute favorite picture of John Kerry and I googled it, and I cannot find it. Would any of you happen to have this picture, or be willing to help me find it. Thank you so much!!

This is a transcript of a thread I posted on Daily Kos today, outlining my continuing support for Kerry, and my appreciation of both his obvious and his not-so-obvious attributes.
Much has been said on this list about Kerry's weakness and failure to take a stand, his letting us down through the concession and his being away on January 6th. I have seen barbs hurled at him that, in my opinion, should be reserved for Joe Lieberman-- as they rightfully are this week for his shameful endorsement of Gonzales, not to mention his blithe "video violence" red-herring chasing and his bending over and kissing corporate butt every chance he could get. (That last reason, by the way, is why I'm glad Daschle's gone. Go Reid.)
I read a quote-- in Reader's Digest, no less-- that changed my thinking about politics and politicians forever. It essentially said that ALL politicians lie, because it's part of the job... but the honorable ones lie only when they have to.
That being said, the more I found out about Kerry, the more I liked him. And I still do. Whether he'll be president or not in 2008, he's got a vital role to fill: shadow president, opposition leader-- and, yes, cultural inspiration.

| He's still got our backs |
[01 Feb 2005|10:42pm] |
|
John Kerry is really impressing the hell out of me. He was fabulous during the election, but since his defeat he has become amazing. He has a resilance and a passion that inspires me to act. He has risen from his defeat like a true champ. Unlike Gore, he did not merely slip away into political ambiguity, he is still here- front and center. On November 11th I wrote: " John Kerry is my president, regarless of the outcome of the election. It's weird to have been seeing him constantly for nearly a year, and now he's gone. He said he hasn't left us, and he has our backs, but how?" I now know how by reaching out to his millions of followers more than once a week through mass emails, through demanding healthcare for 11 million uninsured children, but demanding the resignation of Donald Rumsfield, and by holding Condi Rice accountable, and it's only been three months since he lost the election. Wow. Three months... I cannot believe it have been three whole months since my entire life changed. So I guess this is my ode to John Kerry. He's a great man. I hope that one day I can be half the politican that he is, but maybe I'll win :) haha. I don't view this has holding onto the past, I'm living in the present. John Kerry emcompasses all of my values, and beliefs, and I am proud to have a man like him contuine to fight for me.
